This blog is my attempt to create a place where video gamers in Northwest Washington can turn to discuss relevant gaming news, gossip, trends and (like the title indicates) my personal rants on the industry as a whole.
As I grow more familiar with the site's functionality, I will hopefully be able to update the site daily to discuss news-worthy items that find their way into my RSS reader.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, let me tell you a little big about myself. I'm a 25-year-old newspaper reporter who works for a weekly newspaper in Skagit County. By day, I'm a sports reporter and by night — you guessed it — a huge gamer (well, not literally huge).
Although I've been following gaming since I was 6 years old, I haven't really gotten into it until the past year or so when I purchased an Xbox 360. The system, despite its obvious red-ringing, has helped bring me back into gaming.
The popularity of Xbox Live and various blog sites such as joystiq and kotaku have made me realize that I should be putting my journalism skills to work in something that I'm truly passionate about — gaming.
So, I've decided to start the blog in hopes of at least giving me an outlet to discuss topics that come to mind.
As my experience increases in blogging, so hopefully will my content. I hope that the blog will add another opinion to other sites you may visit during the day, as I'll try to keep with a Northwest theme during my "rants."
Which brings me to my title : RudyPants' Rants. RudyPants is obviously not my birth name — it's my gamertag on Xbox Live. Feel free to send me messages or friend requests online if you see me playing. Chances are I'll be down to play anything, so hit me up if you're interested.
Anyway, enough about me ... on to the games.
